Making Sense of Art
Making Sense of Art
Sensory-Based Art Activities for Children with Autism, Asperger and other PDD
The activities in this book are designed to stimulate the child's senses through manipulation and exploration, arouse curiosity and creativity, and develop a sense of mastery. The activities are grouped under each of the five senses: Visual activities, Auditory, Taste, Touch and Smell. A few examples for activities are: making sculptures in the sand (touch), honey graham houses (taste), and making apple prints (visual). Modifications are included in each activity for specific difficulties that children may have to complete the activity (e.g. vision difficulties, fine motor difficulties, hearing difficulties and more).
