Z-Vibe and DnZ-Vibe
|
|
The Z-Vibe and DnZ-Vibe are two versions of a vibrating tool for oral-motor stimulation and sensory input, designed by a speech-language pathologist. The gentle vibrations stimulate the gums, palate, and tongue. They can also be used outside the mouth on the cheeks and lips. • The Z-Vibe's handle is about 3.5" long, made of aluminum. You can connect to it any of the tips shown on this page, but only one tip at a time. The tips screw into the handle and can be easily changed or replaced. • The DnZ-Vibe comes in two styles: with an aluminum handle or a textured plastic handle. You can use it either as the Z-Vibe with one tip, or as a double Z-Vibe simply by unscrewing the switch end, and connecting another tip instead. For example, attach the Probe tip to one end and a spoon tip to the other, so you can first "wake up the mouth" with the probe and quickly switch to feeding with the spoon. Another advantage of the DnZ-Vibe over the Z-Vibe is that you turn it off with the switch end, so there is no need to touch the tip that has just been in the child's mouth. The plastic DnZ-Vibe has additional advantages: the handle is more resistant to corrosion, and the colorful plastic is more appealing to children. • Both the Z-Vibe and the DnZ-Vibe come with one Probe Tip (see in this category). Other tips are sold separately. Both take a special battery which is not readily available in stores. We recommend buying a spare one. Use with adult supervision. Caution: Use only with adult supervision.
